Wire & Cable

Building network cable from Aerospace Wire & Cable Inc. uses foamed Teflon® FEP fluoropolymer resin to assure optimum electrical and safety performance. The cables are engineered fro building networks that control systems such as heating, air conditioning, lighting and security. And most building codes allow their installation in plenums and other air handling spaces.

Cables with 2 to 25 twisted pairs of conductors measure just 0.2 to 0.5 in.
(5 to 13 mm) in diameter, depending on conductor count. Capacitance is
a low 12.5 pF/ft., nominal. Both 18 and 24 gauge (AWG) conductors are offered.

Because foamed Teflon® FEP provides airspace at the insulator-conductor interface, signals can travel 30% faster than in solid-insulated cables over extended distances without the need for signal boosters, according to the cable manufacturer Teflon® FEP has the lowest dielectric constant and dissipation factor among plenum cable insulating material. And it is even more effective in foam form.

Foamed Teflon® FEP provides low capacitance with thinner insulation than solid material. This allows use of thinner, lighter cables that require less space and are easier to install.

Teflon® FEP meets requirements of virtually all building codes for low smoke and low flame spread.

Teflon® FEP needs no additives to meet flammability and smoke requirements, so there's no possibility of additives affecting insulation performance over time. DuPont guarantees that Teflon® FEP will retain its original performance in key ASTM dielectric tests for 25 years.

Teflon® FEP offers the best combination of electrical and safety properties for low-network cabling, and helps assure that today's cable investment will provide years of dependable service.
